Counselling and therapy
We can feel anxious and distressed for different reasons, such as in a crisis situation or stuck in a longstanding difficulty. Emotions can be upsetting, sometimes we can feel confused, overwhelmed, tearful or unable to sleep and we don’t really know why. We can feel low or depressed or have low self-esteem and feel that we are not achieving our goals in life. We can be weighed down by unresolved anger, frustration or loneliness. These feelings can make life hard to manage.
Anxiety or stress also makes it a struggle to cope, whether as a result of a work situation, relationships at home or a traumatic event. Talking through these fears can help find understanding.
You may struggle with a bereavement or loss, whether of a loved one through death or separation such as a divorce or loss of a job. All these changes require adjustment and sometimes it is hard to move on.
Counselling offers the opportunity to talk through any difficulties you are experiencing in a safe, confidential environment where you are supported and can explore what is troubling you. Sometimes it can be useful to talk through issues from your past to see how they influence your current situation. Thinking about your life and talking through your situation will increase your self-awareness, self-esteem and understanding and help you find your own resources.
